Introducing the CSE to New Faculty Members

Asking for help can be stressful in any area of life.  At work, it can be even more challenging.  Being proactive and making an informal introduction to the teaching support we offer on a one-to-one basis over a coffee is one way to get acquainted with new faculty members.  These past few weeks, I have been reaching out to the 40 new faculty members and taking a little bit of time to learn about their experience and share my own teaching experience and my role as a faculty developer.

In my experience a friendly introduction goes a long way at the start.  If people get to know you as a professional, they will remember you when a question or issue comes up.

For me, our work is not necessarily about asking for help.  It’s about sharing ideas, developing constructive relationships, and working together to improve student learning despite any challenges.
